I'm Jacob, and I care about animals!

I recently watched the movie Dolphin Tale. It inspired me to become an animal rescuer. I asked my Aunt Kodie to start this blog for me so I could share my love for animals and talk to other people who care about them too. So, join me in caring for all of Heavenly Father's creatures. Leave me a comment and tell me about your animal experiences.

  1. I love animals too Jacob! I have always had a soft spot in my heart for puppies. One time I saw a little black lab shivering in a ditch by the road. I felt prompted to stop and get it out of the cold. I took it home and kept it in a box with blankets. I was fearful it may have been very sick and needed to keep the puppy separated from my other two dogs. I took him to the Vet the next day and was told he had Parvo virus. I checked up on him afterwards and discovered he had been nursed back to health and adopted by a loving family. We can all play our part, no matter how small. Remember to act on the promptings you receive so that we can all be a service to each other and our animal friends!

  2. Our old neighbors the Plotz family had a swimming pool in the their back yard. One year it had been empty due to the fact it had been re-sealed. There were several baby Quail that had entered the pool and were unable to get back out; they could not fly and were unable to jump out using the steps. Initially I tried to use the pool skimmer to try and catch them, but they were too quick and would run away. I finally got the idea to lay a two-by-four into the pool at an angle, so that the babies could use it like a ramp. They marched up the ramp and were soon reunited with their mother before one of the neighborhood tom cats could devour them.

  3. One year your Grandma Stone rescued some baby robins. She would cut up worms and put them down their throats to feed them. After several months they were old enough to be let go on there own.I know that your Grandma was really happy that she helped these birds grow up.

  4. Jacob I am so glad to see that someone in the family is as loving for animals as I am. My mom and dad make fun of me all the time because the only things I watch on t.v. are shows that are about animals. Especially that my new found love is Zoology. Keep up the good work Jacob!

  5. Dear Jacob,
I saw Dolphin Tale and I thought it was a great movie and I am glad you enjoyed it. One year my nephew (and he was only 2 years old) was outside at his house and he found a baby bird that feel out of his nest, he went and told his mom and they decided to take care of it as good as they can. They made it a home in there house and did everything a mom bird would do for its baby. They feed it worms everyday. I thought it was really interesting to watch them take care of the baby bird. Also one day I was in my dogs cage playing with them and one of them went over to a tree and was about to eat something on the ground and he started to bark. When I went to see what it was it was a blue egg. I made sure the dogs went away from it and i went inside and grabbed a paper towel and I ran back outside and picked up the egg. I put it back in the nest. There was 4 eggs in the nest. Everyday after that I went outside to see if the birds have hatched and to see if the mom or dad of the eggs would be there. It was a really fun thing to do. I am glad that you are doing this for animals.

This is a great blog. I love animals too. I learned some things from what you posted about dolphins. They are amazing animals. I actually rescued a cat from a tree when I was a fireman. I climbed up a tall ladder and grabbed the kitty then put him on the ground. He was pretty happy to be back on the ground. Firemen actually do that. Cats like to climb, as you know, but sometimes when they climb up something really high, like a tree, they get scared and can't get back down so they have to be rescued. Keep up the great work!
